Thanks - I did switch the lever upward to induce it to go thru the hole but was pulling so hard I thought I'd ruin the threads or splinter the wood/chip the finish on the top- what did you use to pull it thru - needlenose or forceps or..?.
Also I looked up inside there and the wood is not...
the above post should say " pull/squeeze so happy face the threads" don't know where that "happy face" came from? it won't edit that out though.
edit - did it again - the words that should go in there are "hard" and "on" - when you put those 2 words together it must be an automated edit. ...
These are good videos - only difference is this guy has a guitar with about a 2" deep cavity to turn the switch around in. The mooncaster cavity is about 15/16" deep in the lower horn and the switch needs 13/16" clearance (that's just the part in the cavity - doesn't include the nut threads and...
Read the prior threads on this topic - tried exactly what they recommend but not sure if the switch is the same make/model. And if getting the switch in is a bear getting it out requires breaking the switch (as per the prior posts)
Also it's not my guitar, trying to help someone out, so I...
That would be best - wish I'd have known about the problem with the switch prior to ordering this body. Am going to take it to a pro luthier and see what they can do.
OK so a standard switch doesn't work/fit. got an L-shaped Gibson brand switch - did the string thing to get it up to the switch hole but it won't " make the turn" once it gets up in the cavity - the switch lever comes part way out but it will not turn the full 90 deg. to get the threads up thru...
It's called a light touch. Guitars with super jumbo frets are so tall the players fingers never touches wood. If it actually does, he's bending every note sharp.
gotcha - tried it but I got pretty beefy hands - bear paw- like and my fingertips are pretty big - its difficult to limit them to...
what do you mean you play frets not fretboards? I'm confused.. do you put your fingertip right on the fret wire and never touch the wood? every lesson or player i've seen says to put your fingertip on the fretboard right behind the fret so that means fingertips touch wood. Maple feels nice and...
like maple and least like rosewood?
love my maple 'board strat but looking for a different/exotic wood with the same feel as maple. I don't care about the sonic qualities just the feel especially bends, pull offs, slides etc. I have an Epi LP and really DO NOT like rosewood.
thanks
mooncaster in a road runner archtop guitar case. neither of the two are a perfect fit but this one is close - will need a pad under the body tolevel the neck and a crescent shaped pad at the botton - seems do-able
will try to upload this photo - mooncaster body in an epiphone ES 335 case - hope it works!
Added a second pic with the body moved toward the top of the case
thanks all
this is a warmoth neck and body so the holes are already drilled and they lined up with the body. I did put the neck in from the top down - also cleaned up the neck pocket with self stick 220 grit sandpaper on a block the same height as the body side walls. Neck then slid in firm...
this is a warmoth neck to warmoth body - do you clamp the 2 together first and then put in screws? do you just hold them together with hand pressure and tighten screws? What is your process to ensure a good fit?
thanks
thanks all - I ordered a gator and a roadrunner case for archtop guitars and we'll see how they fit - will follow up with a photo or two if I can figure that out.
the original fender case looks like they did some creative padding at the bottom - maybe I could do something similar with a 335...
