Please Talk Me Into A Warmoth

+2 on showcase body.  True the value has already been added, but they are a good product.  I watched a vid last night with a builder that bought a budget body and then a Warmoth and compared them.  5 pc. of wood vs 1 pc, thickness was off from the top to the bottom, flatness was off (warped)...

Please Talk Me Into A Warmoth

From a strictly financial perspective, I'd first question my long term motives for the instrument.  Will I want to sell it at some point?  Much more challenging to resell a custom instrument than anything branded.  Second, what type?  If Fenderish, nothing to lose.  I will always buy Gibson and...

Best Bang for the Buck Pickups? Guitar Fetish?

I've tried alot of pickups, mostly Duncans, a few Dimarzio, Bill and Becky, EMG.  To that end, I do not think there is evidence of a budget bang for the buck pickup.  These are usually made by Pacific Rim suppliers and come as standard equipment on most imports.  The best bang for the buck, bar...

    Latest Warmoth Build Strat content

I've gotten rather fond of these instruments.  The quality, the tone.  I've received alot of favorable feedback at shows.  I did replace the EVO with an EMG81 in the red one for some higher gain stuff and I like it.

    gibison classics

I installed a Classic plus in the bridge and the classic in the neck of my Les Paul Standard.  The best way for me to say this is that it sounds like a Les Paul should.  Gibson Pickups are very high quality.  Their gold covers are much better than a duncan gold.  Tone wise sometimes I'd like to...

    Bill Lawrence pickups

Yes the "real" Bill is the Bill and Becky, aka Willie Stitch (sp) .  I got an L-500L and it was well built great service.  It wasn't a match for what I needed, so I put it up on Ebay and got several nasty emails from the OTHER Bill Lawrence company saying I could not use THEIR trade name in MY...

    Latest Warmoth Build Strat content

I got to thinking, Hmmm,....I wonder if a single pickup, one volume pot, Floyd Rose Trem, Ash body, Maple neck guitar would catch on and be something others might use?   :headbang1:,......nah...probably not .

    Latest Warmoth Build Strat content

I just could not be more pleased with Warmoth right now.  The tone and feel of both of these instruments far surpasses commercially available strat type products (IMHO).  The satin neck finish is a great feel for me.  The Black Cherry Burst one is used for the Eddie stuff tuned lower and the red...

    Seymour Duncan Vrs. DiMarzio

Stew Mac is a resource for lot's of parts and tools as well as some competing products with Warmoth.  I do like some of their components.  I like their cheap generic 500k pots better than anything out there for some reason.  I have also envisioned having a winding machine and making pickups...

    Seymour Duncan Vrs. DiMarzio

Having gone through most of the Seymour Duncan line an several of the Dimarzio, I would say that I prefer Duncans in general from a tone perspective.  I am rather fond of the EVO though.
