How to learn notes on the fretboard, lesson!

I did Warmoth when I was starting out, but admittedly I don't use it anymore since I got my McNaught guitar. Just trying to put out quality instruction for free in my very limited free time. Something that didn't exist when I started out.

Metallica Christmas Spoof, Master of Christmas!

This is the follow up to our popular Dio spoof "Reindeer in the dark" (also on YouTube). Both were requested and played on 99.9 KISW radio and not gonged (meaning they were of good quality). Today we're proud to present "Master of Christmas", which is a Metallica spoof on Master of Puppets...

Should you start on acoustic or electric? Things to consider

Haha, I never really had pedals, because I always went for the multi-fx units. Yes I had a separate foot controller, so one "pedal" I suppose. I had a wah wah before that but nothing after. I was always into the digital offerings, not tube offerings, because I couldn't stand the idea of being...

Should you start on acoustic or electric? Things to consider

Crate solid state amp! Haha memories. That sounds more like my experience. Eventually I wanted an acoustic, didn't understand the hype for the longest time lol. I agree, who knows if I'd be half the player if I started on acoustic. And spot on, I would not have practiced 6 hour days in high...

Should you start on acoustic or electric? Things to consider

Very cool. I had a dude that worked at the place I took my first guitar lessons, and he showed me Dimeola, Vai and others. I knew only Satch at the time.

Should you start on acoustic or electric? Things to consider

That's me! I write and eat left handed, but I play guitar right handed. I've tried both ways, it's definitely better this way. However, however...I don't agree that guitar handed-ness should be the picking band. I think it should be the fret hand. Much more complex there. Not really sure why...

Should you start on acoustic or electric? Things to consider

Hellll yes. Some of my best material is composed 50% of mistakes that were recorded. Great story!

Should you start on acoustic or electric? Things to consider

Totally valid. You don't have to turn on any pedals or even distortion on electric. But it's too tempting lol.

Should you start on acoustic or electric? Things to consider

It's not just parents. Many teachers give the same advice. Many players also do. I'm challenging "conventional wisdom" here with what I've actually seen being in the community for 35 years, plus other gotchas.
