All good and appreciate the feedback. Truth is, I'm making a near exact replica of a Warmoth Soloist my uncle Made in the 80s. I ended up inheriting it and played most of my high school and college days with it. I gave the old one a new Warmoth neck and he has been gushing over it every time...
I suppose a phase. Not sure what other options I would have with this arrangement. Could split would be cool but the phase might be more interesting and useful.

Does anyone know if you can simply have the shelf cut high and sand (or plane) down the shelf to the level you want? My hope is to avoid the shims, which just seem a bit odd to do in guitar building.
Does Suhr or ESP use shims on the FR locking nuts?
