    new regal body!

The grain always goes vertical, wood figuring goes perpendicular to the grain. You need to pop the figure as it’s difficult to see when unfinished, wipe some denatured alcohol over the wood to see what it’ll look like when finished. Fwiw I think that top cap looks great, the grain lines are...

    Current Warmoth lead times?

Looks like it’ll be uncomfortable to play that one sitting down

    Thinline Birdseye

Made a copper scratch plate to finish this off, the guitar plays really nicely but if I had to change something I’d go with a slightly bigger neck profile I think. Other than that I’m stoked, sounds great unplugged and sustains almost as long as my Les Paul

    Birdseye Birdseye Birdseye

Busy day for me along with the pink assembly, finished off the copper scratch plate I wanted to do for this. The copper’s just been sanded so once it goes off a bit it should darken nicely

    Practice Build

It’s heavy, it’s really hard on tools, it’s quite involved to finish as the pores are deep and prone to tear out and it can also be unstable. The first one puts customers off, the rest I’d expect is enough to stop a builder offering it even if it somehow sounded amazing

    Build a Warmoth guitar?

If I was a tech, I’d rather be given a box of parts than something half assembled. That way I know I’ve done it all to my standard, no guesswork about whether the neck screws were over torqued or whatever

    Build a Warmoth guitar?

That’s why I consider it even less of a “crap shoot” when buying Warmoth parts - they make aftermarket parts and in pretty much any industry, they’re an upgrade over OEM. I can spend 20k on a Ducati and it’ll be a good bike as stock, but if I want to get a better suspension I have to shell out...

    Build a Warmoth guitar?

This “you might end up with a dog” idea is a strange one, I guess it depends if you believe some wood is magical compared to other pieces. I don’t buy into that personally, so there’s only two factors that determine the quality of your final instrument - how accurately the parts are machined...
