Thanks, I knew the 2 numbers on the heel were fret size and nut width.  Had no idea what the red dot meant or the 344 but the link provided makes sense now.

It looks darker than it is, there is no vintage tint applied it is just gloss. Nicely applied but clear

I just picked up a compound radius big headstock strat neck with a very nice slab rosewood fingerboard for a build.  The number 344 is penciled in on the neck. Any idea what it means? I have no idea how to determine the age of it as there does not seem to be anything other than the fret and nut...
