ONE piece solid KOA electric guitar. Has anyone made one?

Body #2 arrived today, as well as two Koa neck blanks... Gold hardware for this one, as well... Should I make separate threads for these two builds or just post updates here?

ONE piece solid KOA electric guitar. Has anyone made one?

My usual spec is to use nickel plating, so this will be the only guitar I own with gold plating. I DID own a '76 Limited Edition Explorer years ago with gold hardware, but foolishly sold that in the mid 90's after a buddy who was much better at playing than me made me an offer I couldn't refuse...

Aarom: Yes, that is what I am referring to, and yes... the preview before also included weight... Of all the information in that 'mouseover' info panel, I'd actually put weight even higher priority than the comfort cuts... In the hierarchy of important info, weight is right up there, IMO...

ONE piece solid KOA electric guitar. Has anyone made one?

Hardware: I haven't decided yet, but I'll go gold plating all the way here. I normally am not a fan of gold plating on guitars, but this one begs for it. I will likely use either the Wudtone CP vintage, or Halon Strat bridge. I have one more 1 pc solid koa body coming on Friday that is routed...

Sure, filter would be nice, but I was referring to the user interface, where... when browsing through a page of thumbnails, having the affordance of mousing-over a specific item will not only show 'Construction, Core Wood, etc....', but ALSO have the body weight. In fact, I think the body weight...

ONE piece solid KOA electric guitar. Has anyone made one?

Just got the first Koa body back from Warmoth. This is a single, solid piece. Came in not too heavy, but certainly not a lightweight either, at 4 lbs 11 oz. The preliminary plan is to go with a polymerized tung oil finish, but on the fence about maybe making a brown burst with some dye, similar...

The website is definitely performing better vs the VERY 'laggy' previous iteration. Glad to see you are getting sorted. However, a VERY useful feature that was in last iteration that is now gone is the weight of the guitar body, which you could see when scrolling over or tapping for the quick...

ONE piece solid KOA electric guitar. Has anyone made one?

Thanks for the feedback, guys! Google searches for 'solid body koa electric' was just too broad to be useful when searching. The Suhr and Carvin references are great and I feel much better now, knowing this has been done before successfully. I was told this specific piece of wood was from higher...

You have a Koa lam top, but what is the body wood? I'd think the body wood would be the primary driver for weight in your case.

ONE piece solid KOA electric guitar. Has anyone made one?

I got lucky and was able to acquire a solid billet of quartersawn 'unicorn grade' flamed koa that is large enough for a 1 pc strat or tele. I will be sending off to have shaped and readied for me to finish later this week. Just curious if anyone here has made SOLID body Koa S or T style, and...
