I have cut off the overhang; it's no big deal and easy to do. The cut will go straight down the middle of the 22nd fret (take a pair of end cutters and pull out the fret). If seeing part of the groove bothers you, take a fine wood rasp and make the edge a 45-degree angle, which is hardly noticeable.
