    7 String Baritone

I found a gator bass case that fits almost perfectly. It's a GWE-BASS. A little pricey, but it's a nice case. Thanks so much!  This one's definitely meant to be touched! Had a gig today, and was a little bummed that there were no downtuned songs on the setlist, but probably next time.

    7 String Baritone

Well, that was an adventure, but I'm all done building it, and I'm quite impressed! Big question: how do I find a hardshell case that will fit this thing? The Sperzel D Thing definitely doesn't work on the 7th string for dropping a whole step. It will drop a major or minor third. With longer...

    7 String Baritone

Just opened my parts and I'm impressed! I have a nut blank on the way (the first one I ordered is too rounded), and I still need strap buttons.  I'm going to get started by trying to piece everything together before finishing, then take it apart, and then finish it, and then final assembly...

    Current Warmoth lead times?

Ordered an unfinished custom body and neck 17 Mar 2022. Tracking info sent 9 May 2022. Right exactly in the middle of the quoted window for lead time!

Which Hardtail Bridge for Stratocaster Body with Superwide Neck?

There are also individual (single string) bridges, which could be made into whatever string spacing you desire, but they'd be more costly and more fuss than the Schaller that Spud mentioned. If you are worried about the pole pieces lining up with the wider spacing, you could use rail pickups...

Sperzel Tuner EZ Mount Screw Up

Great customer service, Sperzel! @alexreinhold - I hope the new tuner works well for you.

    7 String Baritone

Since I speak high German and standard English, I love Dutch.  It sometimes sounds like one and sometimes like the other. Example 1: Wie heeft dat glas daar gebroken? Who broke that glass over there? Example 2: Welke jongen heeft je geslagen? Which boy hit you? German: Welcher Junge hat dich...

    7 String Baritone

I was raised in a household where we used both US and UK vocabulary.  It seemed normal to me, but my classmates thought I was barmy as a bedbug. Back to the other side-topic, though, my last attempt a bridge placement went much better, and the saddles are just about in the center, on average. ...

    Potentiometer question.

I would recommend a 500kohm volume pot and 250kohm tone pot in this case.  The singles might be brighter, but a) I don't find this kind of brightness to usually be undesirable, and b) if you note that it is a problem, you could add a small resistor and capacitor to ground from the single coils. ...

    on off switch

I don't believe there is a wrong way, but maybe a way that works best for how you intend to use it. I've personally found that just opening the circuit sometimes introduces a lot of noise, especially if you play with high gain tones.  By dumping the signal to ground instead of just opening the...

    Building custom pickups

Precisely why I started trying to make my own.  It'd be a pretty sizeable amount of electronics, but my idea was to have a separate pickup coil-amplifier-driver coil for each string. Or at least have more than one. I've seen a video where someone used a piezo pickup with a magnetic driver and...

    LED

It depends.  LEDs come in all different shapes, sizes, and colours.  9V's come in different types, as well.  If you have an LED that draws 10 mA and a battery that supplies 500 mAhrs, which would both be somewhere around the middle of the realm of reality, then you should expect approximately 50...

Does warmoth do the BC Rich mockingbird anymore?

    I. too, have always had a soft spot for the mockingbird.  I own one US BCR mockingbird and one sort-of partscaster one I made from a generic Samick or Cortek body and another generic neck. The body style has some flaws, like neck dive and the fact that it doesn't like to sit in a lot of...

    on off switch

Did you check continuity of the switch?  How do you have it wired?  Do you have it dumping signal to ground or do you have it opening the signal side of the circuit?
