    Humbucker for overwound strat sound

It seems obvious- for strat sound, use strat pup. But the guitar I'm working with is HSH, and I was looking for a bridge humbucker that sounds like a ballsy strat bridge (like a SD SSL-5 or Dimarzio FS-1. Like a Gilmour type sound). Is such a bucker? It's fine if It needs to be split to get the...

    Dimarzio "cream" color

So I'm putting a dimarzio 'bucker in my strat. It currently has aged white pickup covers. They aren't real dark but they definitely aren't white. Is dimarzio's "cream" color like aged white or is it a darker tan/yellow? Thanks

    ATTACK OF THE CRAZY ELECTRONICS!!!

Thanks a bunch for everyone's help. Finally got it all put together.  :toothy11:

    ATTACK OF THE CRAZY ELECTRONICS!!!

:icon_thumright: Exactly what I want! David Gilmour also had an XLR jack installed in his strat (temporarily), trying to accomplish the same thing.

    ATTACK OF THE CRAZY ELECTRONICS!!!

Yeah I can't imagine what I would have done if I had just wired it up the way I had it. I compiled all the various diagrams that I found into something that I liked, without really checking to see how it would all work together . I guess that's what makes designing these things a bit...

    ATTACK OF THE CRAZY ELECTRONICS!!!

Wait. If it's before the buffer, not after, it should still be .022-.047, correct?

    ATTACK OF THE CRAZY ELECTRONICS!!!

Man, how could I have missed all this stuff? Looking back at the picture, I'm a little embarassed  :binkybaby:. I don't even know why I drew in a .022 cap, when I usually put .047's with single coils. Would it sound better to have the cap value even higher than the .1 you mentioned, or is that...

    ATTACK OF THE CRAZY ELECTRONICS!!!

Could the switch be moved somewhere else? Or would it do the same thing no matter where it's placed? For example, if I moved it before the preamp:

That actually makes a ton of sense. I didn't think of what the volume would do in passive mode. Thanks for the tip on the switches as well. I think I'm going to just leave out the passive/active switch, because the benefit of having the loop on-board is to have the volume come after it (It...

    ATTACK OF THE CRAZY ELECTRONICS!!!

:o Wow! That Black Cat really is just something else, eh? Very cool... And the 25k volume has something to do with the buffer. It's the value suggested by the manufacturer and the value Jerry had in his guitars (the ones with the buffer, anyway). I'm still waiting for a few more components, but...

    Thought I'd say g'day!

:occasion14: G'day to you too, and welcome! I'm pretty new here myself- yet I've already learned so much...There's pure gold hidden in these pages! +1  :icon_biggrin:

    ATTACK OF THE CRAZY ELECTRONICS!!!

Yes to the Y-cable. I have a (1)stereo-to-(2)mono cable that I bought a while ago for running two amps. It should be perfect for this. I'm going to do switches. I never really liked push/pull pots, I guess it's just a personal preference. I measured out the strat control cavity and I'm going to...

    ATTACK OF THE CRAZY ELECTRONICS!!!

So I just figured out all the various 'tronics and tonal tonics that are going into my next project. It's basically a Jerry Garcia/David Gilmour mashup stratocaster  :glasses9:. I don't know if there's anybody here who really enjoys playing with guitar electronics, but I'm pretty proud of my...

    Has anyone ever done this?

    Cool, thanks!

    Has anyone ever done this?

I'm planning to put an on board effects loop into my next guitar, a la Jerry Garcia. It uses a stereo jack as a send/recieve so you can give your pedals full output then control volume to amp on the guitar. Anyone ever done this? How did you like it?
