    Korina vs Mahogany

:confused4: :cool01: Beauty is in the I off the beholder. I happen to like the look of mahogany a lot, maybe more so than Korina. Some like blondes, some like brunettes, some like red heads.

Indecision on future neck order.....need help please.....

Just found out my Bubinga neck is going to be shipped soon, so I'll be able to post pics soon. Looks are not as important as tone to me. Do you think P+J or Jazz set would be better for a fretless neck? What pickup set would be better suited for fretless? '

Indecision on future neck order.....need help please.....

Thanks TT, and everybody. I'm looking forward to a padouk neck in the near future. I should see it shortly after my Bub/Bub fretless neck shows up. One thing I'm digging is when I have all my pieces and parts I'll be able to experiment on which neck sounds and, or looks better with what...

Indecision on future neck order.....need help please.....

Looks like the color of my mahogany is going to be a bit redder in hue than my previously natural finish mahogany body. So do to body color, and budget reasons, I have just put in the order for a showcase Padouk/Rosewood J Bass neck with SS6105 frets.

OK, got about 5 coats on now. Starting to get a nice glow to it.

TT, that Bubinga/Bubinga looks super sweet. Did you do any finishing on that Bubinga or is that the all natural sheen of the wood? I hope my neck shows up in that color, more brown less red. What do you use to treat your neck to keep it from drying out? I use this stuff called "Guitar Honey" for...

Canary might be out of the running. Checked out the neck builder at the warmoth site to price it out, and canary was not an option to choose for neck wood on a bass neck . Guess I'll ponder bubinga, ga, wenge, and padauk some more. :dontknow:

Canary/Canary...........? I don't know much about canary, visually I think it's a winner. Thanks for the suggestion, think that would look real hot. I've read on this forum that canary is similar in tone to maple,  only slight heavier than maple, and doesn't require a finish. Is this true? Or...

Still figuring it out. So far I'm thinking Bubinga/Ebony, GA/and something, wenge/ebony or Padauk/PF. Can't make up mind yet. It will have SS105 frets for sure.

GA sounds like fun, but tubby.twins has a good point. I should wait for my neck to show up in a week or two. So I'll be patient and wait to see how much I like the Bubinga. If I've fallen in love with it, I'll use it again. Almost bought a Bubinga  neck last night after having one too many beers...

Mahogany Dinky Jazz PJ with Formby's finish.

OK, so it's out of the box, hanging from the wall, and has it's first sloppy coat of Formby's Low Gloss. Really happy with this body, it has some great grain.  Now just gotta be patient and wait to put next coat on.

Just opened up the box with my new Warmoth body and electronics. This piece has some really cool grain pattern. Working on my natural finish right now.
