My 5' 7" self would have words with you if I wasn't 5' 7".
(actually, I might even be shorter, as I haven't measured in quite a few years and I am over the age of 50 now)
I'm a metal guy. The Strat proportions are a little too common and plain. Even my Red Death guitar, the E. A. Poe-inspired design that was based on a Mighty Mite Strat body, I wish it was a little more extreme in proportions, but I just couldn't pass up that candy red finish.
I love Solo Guitars. They were the ones who got me hooked into this whole guitar-building thing in the first place! My first one was a Mockingbird kit.
The guitar I posted is the Nazgûl, named after the Seymour Duncan Nazgûl pickup I used. Show-off thread here...
Next step in troubleshooting: can you visit a music store and just try out different electrics? This is to see if we can isolate the case in a more broad sense. So far, it seems like we've been focusing on the modularity of your Strat, but before exploring any further modifications to that...
Wow, beautiful work! Glad you figured out how to post photos, because I think we're all richer now for it!
Also, really great job in matching up the cavity cover to the rest of the body. But I'm also of the mind that perfect isn't always necessary and sometimes, you just gotta go for blatantly...
You might be onto something. Your ring finger tip is hitting the higher notes on many chord shapes so if that's where the source of pain is, it could be the difference in string gauges if your acoustic has heavier gauge strings compared to your electric (and switching to a Tele is unlikely to...
I still eventually want to make a Gecko 6. It'd be the missing string configuration in my bass collection (I have a 4, 5, and 7 string).
Not that I need a 6-string or even the 7-string I own; I just want one. :D
I actually do have that koi strap, along with a few more of their graphic fabric straps. I selected them based on the theme of the guitar they're going on. :)
Not if you install the strap button at the top of the neck pocket on the V-K. ;)
I do still have to get going on the two V-K bodies I grabbed from Showcase over a year and a half ago now....whenever I have the money to actually buy the rest of the parts. Like necks. 😯
I chatted about this and similar topics of off-the-wall colors for guitars with my wife after another forum said that it's pretty much just nail polish (just that the per-ounce price of nail polish vs. the quantities required for finishing work is a bit misaligned ;) ). She pointed me to...
For extra challenge, CERUSE! ;)
Nah, me personally, I'd leave that grain visible loud n' proud. On both body & headstock. Transparent colors, sure, but show it off!
**receives 9 lb. mahogany Tele body**
Me: What the hell, Warmoth?! I asked for "extra light!!!11!11!!!!"
WM: Yep, you got the lightest stock we had at the time.
Me: 9 pounds? What's left, cinder block?
WM: [whispers] how did he know about the cinder block?
Toxic Guitar People Forum: dOeS...
At least the [process by which the item was made a relic] was honest. :)
** I tried to find multiple ways to turn the noun "relic" into a verb gerund, but nothing looked correct in writing....much like deliberately beating the crap out of one's brand new guitar to look old and worn is also not...
