Warmoth truss rod cover, neck plate and Gecko neck washers

I've seen the turtle neck plates out in the wild, but I have a strong suspicion that they're very much in the "bootleg" category. And by "strong suspicion," I mean "they're totally violating WM's IP." Since I have big doubts that WM licensed the use of the turtle to some no-name company that...

WM Baritone Neck w/ Custom Body

Couple of flaws that have been stuck in my teeth for quite a while but was too far along to scrap it and start over. As with all builds, I learned several things through this project. Keep on keepin' on. In the meantime, I have a new baritone guitar with dual coil-splitting. :)

Newbie bassist considering building a J-style short scale, left-handed

For the shoulder/length/scale issue, my best friend is also experiencing joint pain from working decades in manufacturing. He's 6' 3" but finds short-scale instruments are far more comfortable for him because of his physical ailments. Whether it's a short-scale bass or a 24.75" Gibson scale...

Esoterics of building quality musical instruments

It's good to know yourself. :) With this level of honesty, do you have a friend who has more experience with soldering, even if not guitar electronics specifically? That could help you get an idea of heat, application method, timing, and just the physical aspects of soldering that aren't...

    pic file size

Edit the photo first. My phone by default captures images in 3024 x 4032 pixels which is way overkill. I edit it down to 600 x 800 which is more than enough to view in browser (and I have a 34" ultrawide monitor). I've had this discussion with families who've tried to send in images of paper...

There's static in my attic on channel Z....

Imma guess Andre is not from 'round here. It's the kind of comment that seemed innocuous enough though phrased a bit ****ishly. Especially considering the nonsensical "you people" follow-up, which suggests to me that English may not be his native language. Of course, I could be wrong and he's...

    First build total newb.

Sperzel seems like one of those companies run by people way older than me who've never really understood this whole "Internet" thing (I'm 52). Their online form is useless as I'm still waiting on a response from 6 years ago :D Narrator voice: he's not really waiting, though. That was just a...

Post What Metal You are Listening To

Hell yes, SOAD! It was MTV-X back in the early '00s that was my intro to them. "Sugar" off of their debut album just completely blew me away. That was at a time when metal was surging back after a decade of pompous, self-righteous "alt rock" that had morphed out of grunge as by then, grunge...
