    Identify this tele neck?

Recently picked this up off craigslist for $120. Seller claimed it was a USA tele neck made by Fender. There is no way. He also said it is "roasted rosewood." It looks to be roasted maple. Pretty neck and well worth $120, whatever it is. But can any of you experts help identify any details of...

Modern player telecaster plus: will Warmoth neck fit?

Hi folks: Played one of thhese teles at guitar center recently. I thought it was pretty cool and fun for the $$ (less than $400). http://www.amazon.com/Fender-Modern-Player-Electric-Fretboard/dp/B005N2ANOS Does anyone know if a Warmoth neck will bolt on this tele's body? The guitars are...

waterslide decal application on Warmoth gloss neck: polyurethane?

I read the other posts on this subject, but am still not clear. My understanding is that the "gloss" finish applied by Warmoth (to my tele neck) is a polyurethane finish. So a clear poly spray from a can should be OK going over the decal and headstock . . . correct? SO: After I carefully apply...

Koacaster: one step closer! Indian rosewood neck!

Recall that unofficial warmoth member Tonar did a fantastic job applying a clearllacquer finish to my koa tele body (originally a board that I brought back from HAwaii). Now, for christmas I got a Warmoth tele neck: indian rosewood, 1 piece, quartersawn, MOP dots, no finish. It is a beauty...

Rosewood (indian) neck: no finish . . . add danish oil?

Hi, I am ordering an indian rosewood neck, unfinished. I read somewhere that, even with a no-finish-required neck like rosewood, it's a good idea to wipe on some danish oil (or similar) as a general protectant. Any reason not to do this? All input is appreciated, as always.

Tele build: thickness of cap wood?

Quick question: I want to build a chambered tele body. What thickness is the cap for this sort of thing? 1/2 inch? 1/4 inch? Are there any particular rules about this sort of thing? Seems to me that a thicker cap, say 1/2 inch, would obviously be more durable. . . thanks for any input.

solid koa tele body (pics here!): what type of neck?

Photos of soilid koa tele body here: the boards (before): NOW: I am considering warmoth unfinished indian rosewood necks, which are beautiful and not too pricey at all. Koa necks are like $700. The question is whether an indian rosewood neck would look weird on that body. Obviously...

    unique: solid koa telecaster body

It's not done yet, but it's getting close. I brought 2 koa boards back from Hawaii. Found a local woodworking expert who was able to help me make these boards into the beautiful "T-style" body you see below. Very exciting, this will be a one-of-a-kind guitar. Any advice re: finishing this...

dumb question: sonic qualities of "laminate top" bodies vs. solid top bodies

Sorry for the "noob" question. Here goes: What is the difference, if any, between the following: 1) a single, solid hunk of wood electric guitar body; 2) two (or 3 or 4!) boards joined together with glue, then finished into a body; and 3) two (or 3 or 4!) boards joined together, then with a...

    Koa body: finish advice?

I brought 2 koa boards back from Hawaii, now they are being routed into a tele body. What about a finish? I could have them sprayed with clear gloss. Really I am leaning toward doing a Tru-oil (or similar) finish. Any advice would be appreciated, since I know absolutely nothing about...

calling jackthehack and other experts re: Rosewood Tele body

I think I have decided to step up and spend some $$ on what I think will be a super nice guitar: a Warmoth tele in full rosewood. Unfinished rosewood neck and Rosewood body in clear gloss. Certainly it will be indian rosewood due to the cost. I expect the body to be in the $700-800 range, at the...

    dumb question: "one-piece" neck

Does "one piece" neck mean a neck carved out of a single piece of wood, as opposed to a neck with a separate fretboard glued onto the neck? thanks.

    Tele neck wood - Ebony?

hi guys: Quick question. I am interested in a no-finish exotic wood tele neck. From a quick perusal of the "showcase" of the Warmoth site, there are several options that won't quite break the bank. There are several Indian Rosewood necks that are surprisingly not too expensive. Also there...

    Warmoth "JagMaster" purchase off ebay!

What do you think? Steal or garbage? I mean, what can you do with $400 these days? I think it looks like good fun, esp. for an "economy" model.  I have a Warmoth strat, and it is just awesome (especially the neck). The neck alone (on this JagMaster) cost at least $250 new, probably more like...
