No, the head of the screw will be exactly the same at the top. The point is that the screw that I have is not counter sunken.

It makes it simpler to adjust the height of the pickup. The wood is also a little “worn” at that spot, so the plate makes a better connection for the pickups screws.

The nut that I have made is sitting perfectly in the slot. It goes in with a little "click" and it does not move sideways at all. Do I actually need to glue the nut in? Or is it okay to not add any glue?

Is that a quartersawn maple neck? 1 or 2 piece? I have a hard time to decide. Can you feel the skunk stripe on a raw neck? Is a 2 pice neck "aesthetic" nice with the same wood in the finger board as the neck?
